From the beginning, this whole module is based on Virtual Reality, hence the name, Second Life. It's a place where you create your own reality with all the online tools that is given to you. for example in Second Life yoou have the ability to create your own avatar. You can either create it very realistic and for it to look like your real self and people to feel like they connect with the real personna from behind the screen or create an alternate avatar which represnts what your dream self would've looked like. It's still part of your real life self but it might be one of your personalities that is not so out there and is not what you live in day to day.
Online you're able to depict what your own self future goals you want to look like and you're able to make that as a reality in this internet era. For example you have all these social media platforms where you can edit, switch and change your pictures to make it for example look like you live a lavish life and that is your day to day lifestyle. But you only place in that picture frame what you like others to see and all the dirt most of the time is pushed out of the frame so it gives the viewers the impression that you have this lifestyle that many wish for when in fact it's just the alternate reality you created yourself so you're able just like this to create an illusion in people's minds. No wonder nowadays there is so much trust issues, because we can alternate even our own lives into something is not our actual reality.
If you know how to use the tools that are put in your hands just like that, they're just a tap away from being used, you can create whatever perception you want others to have on you. If you want them to think that you're in a good head space and you're very motivational and you have your life figured out then you can easily create that by just a few posts when in reality your life is a mess.
In Second Life you can make people think you're a female and that's your gender in real life as well by creating your "dream" body avatar when in reality you dont even look close to that avatar.
